Friday June 24 - Scott Bruns
Scott Bruns will exhibit illustrations from his children's book "DEMO Junkyard Dog" June 24th through July 5th, 2011

Opening Reception Friday June 24th ...7-10pm

Demo: Junkyard Dog is a look into the creative process of illustrating a picture book for all ages. The Story of Demo, a young pit bull terrier was originally conceived of late one night in 2002 in a dark bar of New York City's Lower East Side by Jon Bozak and Scott Bruns. Jon did the writing and Scott the illustrations. Together they sculpted a story of waste and redemption over a period of five years until the first publishing of Demo: the story of a junkyard dog in 2007.

Demo: Junkyard Dog is a presentation of the visual process undertaken by Scott Bruns to flesh out the story via illustration. In developing the book over five years a dense story with many different characters was created, but to keep the book to a manageable size, the story was heavily edited and allowed less than 40 finished illustrations in the final version of the book.

Now for the first time the story of Demo is presented in it's entirety across the walls of the Helltown Workshop. Chronologically it explores the creative process of inventing the look of a modern fable with all of the original, beautifully detailed watercolor and ink illustrations as seen in the book and scores of pencil drawings of character studies, alternate and extended scenes.
The opening of Demo: Junkyard Dog at the Helltown Workshop will include a limited run of books for sale. All original art will also be for sale.
